Alright, so you want a business on the internet AND you want it to make money, AND you want a well–designed website to accomplish all this. Where should you begin?
You need an idea. You know, one of those “eureka” moments.
But the most common mistake that novices make is coming up with an idea AND finding a market where there is a demand for it.
Ideas can pop–up from anywhere, and it is quite easy to find something unique. You could be
watching television, or at the movies, or even while reading the newspapers or looking at billboards. There are
ideas all over the place. It could be inspired by your profession or even a hobby you enjoy doing.
Make sure you download the free E-Books that I am offering. Read them and take notes. Carry a small notebook with you, so that whenever any ideas pop–up in your mind, write them down so that you won't forget them.
One major super–important tip in finding a niche for your website is to make sure it's something that you're passionate about. What you write and how you write it will be translated to your readers. If you don't find it interesting enough to write good content, no one will believe you. And there go your profits!
Well, you won't until you determine its profitability and how much in demand the product or service is. There are a number of tools that you can use to make that determination.
One such tool is Good Keywords. It is a small Windows program that you can download for free and keep on your computer. It's really a good tool to have and I'm sure you're going to love it.
Another place you can visit is NicheBot, which offer a multitude of ways to find what other people are looking for.
You can find out what the top most 500 frequently searched words are on the Internet at Wordtracker. If you sign up for their free newsletter, they'll send you an email once a month with popular keywords.
When you enter an idea you have in mind, such as a keyword, and press the button, you will be presented with
a list of keywords and
key phrases that are related to the subject you have entered.
Each keyword or key phrase would have an indication of the number of searches that have been gathered from internet users. The number of searches made for a particular keyword or key phrase is a good indication of the demand for those keywords or key phrases.
So you WANT a keyword or key phrase that shows many searches, right?
Not always. Demand is just half the battle. You also need to find out how many competitors you have for that particular market. Run a search for your particular key word or key phrase and look at the number of web pages that come up. If the number is less than the number of searches you may have a good profitable idea! Try a few search tools online, the Overture Keyword Tool, for a keyword or key phrase or try here at Spy Fu.
